Culver’s sweet treat for Friday blood donors at St. Cloud Area Donation Center

ST. CLOUD, Minn. (October 24, 2007) – All individuals who come to donate blood at the St. Cloud Area Blood Donation Center starting next Friday, November 2, and on subsequent Fridays through the end of this year will receive a coupon for a free pint of Culver’s frozen custard as part a new “Give a Pint, Get a Pint” day program. The coupons can be redeemed at Culver’s of St. Cloud, 901 Highway 10 South and Culver’s of Waite Park, 1101 2nd Street South.

“It’s tough to get people to donate blood on Fridays,” said Beth Bromen, executive director of the Central Minnesota Chapter of the American Red Cross. “And with the holidays coming up, donors will be busier than ever. We wanted to offer something special to entice busy donors to come in and give blood to ensure we have a stable supply on hand for patients who need it. Culver’s generous coupon incentive is helping us do just that. We appreciate their support.”

Blood supplies are particularly vulnerable during the holiday season due to school and work vacations, inclement weather and flu. But the need for blood remains the same. Patients need blood every day and when donations fall, patient care can potentially be jeopardized. It is for this reason Bromen hopes to see more donors on Fridays starting November 2. “We need donors on Mondays and Thursdays too, but want to increase Friday’s numbers so that our inventories remain stable,” Bromen said. “Giving blood is the best gift you can give this holiday season. And it doesn’t cost a penny.”

Mark your calendar for the November 23 “Home for the Holidays” blood drive at the St. Cloud Area Blood Donation Center. All those who come to donate blood will receive special food and prizes, as well as coupons for Culver’s frozen custard.

The St. Cloud Area Blood Donation Center is located at 1301 West Germain Street, St. Cloud, Minn. Hours are Monday and Thursday from 1 p.m. - 7 p.m. and Friday from 8 a.m. - 2 p.m.
